Kid stuff

Stuff for kids

My kid is OBSESSED with the whacked out 2-D world of Dav Pilkey including Captain Underpants, Dog Man and Cat Kid.   On the Scholastic website, Dav has included some step-by-step drawing videos of some of the popular characters.  Easy to do even for an almost-five-year-old.

More step-by-step drawing videos!  My kid is really into drawing lately, and I love it too so it's a fun activity for us to do together.   These videos are good as there are so many choices.   There is always a kid drawing alongside the dad, so no one needs to fixate on the drawing turning out just like in the video.

My friends warned me about the slime stage. They said I would eventually declare a household ban on the stuff.  But ya know what, I love it!  I love making it and playing with it. It's like a stress reliever. I mean, if stress is something you are struggling with.

This recipe uses glue (clear or white), baking  soda, and contact solution. Food colouring and glitter are optional but if there's  no glitter then what's the point.

If things don't seem to be working (Too sticky, can't get it off your hands) then just keep squirting contact solution and everything will come together.

Make ice cream in a bag

It works and it's fun. Great arm workout!   Make the kid work for her treats!  Here is the recipe.

Better moms can make a science lesson out of it too.

Cardboard Kitchen

I mean this was a while ago. Peak quarantine.   When the days and evening stretched out before me and the pressure of being a Pinterest mom still had some sort of loose effect.

With all the deliveries, we did have a lot of extra cardboard lying around. The project kept me occupied for two nights.  The result kept Little occupied for about 10 minutes before she demanded a "real kitchen, not one made out of cardboard."
